Violence at Howe Community Park Wounds 4 Shot in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood
Sacramento County deputies are examining a violent incident that erupted on April 18 2026 at Howe Community Park just as authorities were breaking up a large unsanctioned party of hundreds of attendees.
Prior to the Shooting
Law enforcement initially responded to Howe Community Park just after 6:30 PM on April 18 after being notified of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Soon after, another report was received about a potential altercation unfolding at the location.
Air support flew over the park but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. Nevertheless, it was evident that a massive group had congregated at Howe Park without official sanction.
The Moment Gunfire Erupted
Law enforcement personnel moved to clear the area by positioning themselves around the crowd and using their vehicle PA systems commanding attendees to clear out. Roughly 15 minutes were spent for people to comply.
Just as the crowd began to move that 20 to 25 gunshots were discharged. The sudden gunfire sent hundreds fleeing. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies swiftly started identifying shooting victims.
Four People Shot
When the dust settled, four victims were identified as having gunshot wounds. The four individuals — consisting of one woman and three men all reportedly in their mid to late twenties — were taken to nearby hospitals. Hospital staff indicated that two of the four had injuries classified as immediate, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one victim's wounds were minor. Thankfully, all four were in stable condition.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department arrived on scene and aided in treating the injured at the scene.
What Investigators Found
Most Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 of the gunfire appears to have happened near Cottage Way close to the local Home Depot located at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. Crime scene investigators found more spent casings along Cottage Way. Bullet holes were noted in the iron fence adjacent to the nearby Home Depot. These discoveries confirmed that one of the gunmen had been sending rounds south from along Cottage Way aimed at the Home Depot. The Home Depot was put under lockdown for a period of time. CSI units alongside detectives kept processing evidence throughout the night.
Suspects Detained
Information obtained through law enforcement radio communications confirmed that a Kia connected to the shooting was contacted by law enforcement in nearby Solano County. Four detainees were stopped and detained. Sheriff's units were traveling to Solano County to transport the detainees for formal questioning. Surveillance footage confirmed that two shooters had been involved.
